Static HTML websites

Fast, hand-coded HTML websites

No CMS, no database, nothing to hack. Static websites that load instantly and keep working without monthly maintenance.

No CMS. Nothing to hack. Nothing to update.

A lot of small business websites are running WordPress for no reason. They have eight pages that change twice a year, and in exchange they carry a database, a dozen plugins, monthly updates and a permanent security liability.

A hand-coded HTML site has none of that. There's no login to break into, no plugin to go out of date, and no database query between a visitor and your page. The server just sends the file. It's the fastest and safest thing on the web, and for a lot of businesses it's simply the right answer.

Where an HTML site is the better choice

  • Trade and service businesses — locksmiths, electricians, builders, installers
  • Brochure sites where the content settles down after launch
  • Anywhere Core Web Vitals and mobile speed really matter
  • Businesses that have been hacked on WordPress or Joomla and don't want it again
  • Sites that need to work perfectly on a phone with one bar of signal

You still get everything that matters

Static doesn't mean basic. These sites still have working contact forms, full schema markup, sitemaps, analytics, blog articles and everything Google wants to see — the same technical SEO work goes in either way. The difference is in what happens on the server, not what the visitor gets.

Every site I build this way runs from a small Python generator, so the header, footer and contact details live in one place. Changing a phone number across thirty pages is one edit, not thirty.

Frequently asked

If there's no CMS, how do I change things?
You send the changes over and they're done, usually the same day for small edits. Most clients on a static site prefer that to logging in themselves. If you'd rather have full control, a CMS build is the better fit and I'll say so.
Can a static site have a blog?
Yes. Articles are built as ordinary pages by the site generator, so they get the same speed and the same schema markup as everything else.
Do contact forms still work?
Yes. The form posts to a small script on the server, with spam protection built in. Nothing about a static site stops enquiries reaching your inbox.
Is it cheaper than WordPress?
The build cost is usually similar. The saving is afterwards — no plugin licences, no monthly update and security work, and far less that can go wrong.
